MOTIVATIONAL GROUP

HEALTH, SPORT AND LEISURE"

Ballybeen Men's Motivation Group was established in 2012 by a group of local men from the Ballybeen area interested in addressing the health and well-being issues of the Ballybeen area. The men's group range from school age to senior citizens and are interested in addressing the range of health and well-being issues that are relevant to men in the area that are often forgotten about, even by the men themselves. The group currently deal with a lot of areas of support and advice which they feel aren't accessible for men in the area.

The men are interested being as successful as the women's group in the are and have identified a whole range of different needs around which they are keen to take an integrated approach. The men have meet with a wide range of MLA's and elected members and are keen to get the voices of these men heard at decision making tables.

The group's core activities include current issues at hand effecting those in Ballybeen, such as;

  • Promoting the health and well-being of men in the Ballybeen estate and assisting them to take a family approach to what they do

  • Promoting a secure, safe, and friendly environment in the estate

  • Growing the men's group

  • Securing funding for the future

  • To accommodate, inspire and mentor young people in Ballybeen

  • Encourage a family approach in their work with the community and remain inclusive for families

  • Providing sporting activities through the use of the community gym and partnerships with; sport changes lives, Ulster Rugby and PHA 

  • Educate men on drug awareness, suicide prevention, self-harm and mental health
