Formally known as Ballybeen Mens Motivation Group

BALLYBEEN

MOTIVATIONAL GROUP

NORTHERN IRELAND

"CONNECTING FAMILIES THROUGH ALL ASPECTS OF

HEALTH, SPORT AND LEISURE"

Below is a summary of the way in which the Ballybeen Men’s Motivation Group

will undertake its work

Values and What Do these Mean

Solution focused

  • Need to set examples for others to follow in addressing the needs of our community

  • Engage more with Politicians and influence them in addressing local needs more effectively

  • Holding others to account for how services are delivered in our estate

  • Manage the area in which we live in partnership with others

  • Be the link between local concerns and the solution to these concerns - understand the causes and dedicate ourselves to finding the solution

  • Creating solutions together with Government bodies and other funders

Will do / Can do – attitude

  • Be proactive in order to actively grow

  • Get people involved in making their lives better

Inclusion for all

  • Facilitate and work with other groups within the area  taking a partnership approach to what we do

  • Strive for a more joined up community in Ballybeen

  • Inclusion of multi-cultural and ethnic minority groups in what we do

  • Making all people feel welcome

  • Recognising that we live and work in a more diverse society

Joined up Community

  • We know our community  and they know us

  • We are connected to people which many statutory agencies are not

  • Youth and elderly need to be included in the group – we will focus on intergenerational skills swapping as a way of building our community – computer skills; building and joinery skills for men; cooking, woodwork, painting & decorating, building, mechanical, yoga and general craft skills, etc.

People focused – hope builders

  • Creating a sense of hope among local people
